5 Weeks of Free Education with the Kaplan Commitment Program

Kaplan University believes you have the right to make an informed decision about your education. To back up this belief, Kaplan introduced The Kaplan Commitment. The Kaplan Commitment program lets prospective online or campus students attend the first 5 weeks of a degree program at no cost while they decide whether or not to stay and pursue their studies. After five weeks, students can either continue in class, or withdraw without any financial obligation beyond the $45 application fee.

How The Kaplan Commitment Works:

  • Enrollment: You’ll attend real classes for real credits. Then decide during the introductory period if Kaplan University is right for you. If not, all you owe is the application fee. These classes count toward your degree if completed. During this period, a Kaplan University Financial Aid Advisor will clearly estimate your expected school costs: tuition, books, miscellaneous — everything, including the state-mandated $45 application fee, as well as your financial aid options should you be eligible.
  • Week One: You’ll begin the five-week introductory period, during which you’ll get exposed to Kaplan's curriculum, faculty, and classroom or online learning platforms. If at any point during the introductory period you decide Kaplan isn't right for you, you can opt out with no tuition cost or other financial obligation to Kaplan University, except for the $45 application fee.
  • Week Five: This is the checkpoint week. It marks the end of your introductory period, and is the time to let Kaplan University officially know if you no longer wish to continue. Otherwise, if you’re meeting the academic standards, and have submitted all required documentation, you will move forward with your Kaplan University education. If applicable, you will receive your specific financial aid package.
  • Week Ten: The first term ends (week six for graduate business and IT students). If you meet all academic and course requirements, you will earn your course credits and continue your degree path.
